Welcome to The Cooking Foodie! Iโ€™m David Davidov, a passionate home cook and baker whoโ€™s been creating delicious recipes since I was 17. I started The Cooking Foodie YouTube channel in 2017 and launched this blog in 2018, and since then, Iโ€™ve developed over 1,000 recipes loved and tested by hundreds of thousands of home cooks around the world. With more than 1 billion video views across social media, I share my love for homemade ice cream, stunning cheesecakes, and traditional recipes inspired by cuisines from around the world, all to make cooking fun, accessible, and incredibly delicious.

My Roots & Culinary Journey

My life has always been filled with food and travel. I was born in Dagestan, Russia – a region known for its incredible diversity, where dozens of ethnicities (and their rich cuisines) live side by side. Growing up there meant tasting everything from hearty Russian dumplings like vareniki and crispy chebureki to layered cakes such as Medovik (honey cake) and Napoleon cake.

When I was five, my family moved to southern Israel. I grew up in the small town of Sderot, and today I live in Ashkelon. Here, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors inspire much of my cooking, blending beautifully with the Russian and Eastern European influences from my childhood. From iconic dishes like shakshuka, knafeh, and homemade pita bread, to staples like hummus, these flavors are now part of my daily kitchen. Youโ€™ll also find many more Middle Eastern recipes throughout my work. Iโ€™ve been cooking and baking since I was 17, and over the years Iโ€™ve developed more than1,000 recipes-many of which have been tested and loved by countless home cooks around the world.

Why I Started The Cooking Foodie

The Cooking Foodie was born out of my desire to share my passion for food with the world. Over the years, Iโ€™ve learned so much about what makes a great recipe, and I wanted to create a space where everyone can feel inspired (and empowered!) to cook at home. This is a space where anyone, regardless of their skill level, can find deliciously easy recipes that work. My philosophy is simple: cooking and baking should be joyful, approachable, and, most importantly, delicious. You can trust that every recipe I publish is tested until I know that itโ€™s foolproof, and my wonderful, interactive community of fellow Cooking Foodies are proof-positive that they work!
